Littering and dumping directly linked to human indifference is disrupting the ocean ecosystem in such ways that are beyond imagination. Many products we use today travelling for years in water endangering marine life along the way. Where does this pollution come from? Where does it go?

Widely regarded as one of the most pervasive contaminant problems of the waterways, various marine and other aquatic debris are more than an ill-favored nuisance for beach bound holiday lovers. These marine debris can be of different types but all their roots share a common origin i.e., cigarette and cigar filters, fishing line, disposable diapers, tampon applicators, six pack holders, bottles and cans, syringes, tires- the literary of litter are as varied as the products available in the global marketplace. These intimidating marine debris have a serious impact on tourist industry, in waterfront communities.

To some extent, these debris became prominent antagonists for marine as well as human society. Firstly, every year, thousands marine animals die from becoming entangled in debris or by consuming it. secondly, it can also pose human health and safety concerns.

Whenever these marine debris get caught in propellers, motors and other machinery of commercial and recreational boats and ships, consumers pay more for products and services at the marketplace.

These debris had their origin mainly from two sources i.e., the sea and the land. The former includes boats and ships- from the smallest sail boats to the largest container ship- along with offshore rigs and drilling platforms while the later includes combined sewer overflows and storm drains, landfills, manufacturing and sewage treatment plants. Another group of land-based sources include beachgoers who leave behind them their picnic garbage and cigarette filters on the beach to be washed out by the tides.

The lethal and devastating effect of these debris creates havoc in the marine ecosystem, causing circulation loss and severas the animal grows and those animals who slowed down by trailing debris are most vulnerable to predators. In another case our grocery bags mistakes sea turtles as jelly fish,Eats it and dies.Another study reveals that marine garbage not only endangering adult turtles but also some species even before birth.
